The hotel, restaurant, and all attached experiences were breathtaking. Just walking into the entrance way felt like a retreat into a relaxing world, and the list of amenities (the private baths, free ramen, traditional meals...) was incredible, some of which weren't even advertised clearly (or at all). This is possibly one of the most expensive places I've stayed, but I found it was worth the money, and the relaxing energy of the whole building left me satisfied the whole stay. Unfortunately it wasn't perfect, the location could be better, with the Shirkawa-Go village being a solid 30 minute way from the door, and the shuttle service not running frequently enough, nor carrying enough people to get there at an early time so to necessarily beat the other tourists. And we were disappointed to find they couldn't hold our luggage outside of our booking to explore the town - instead we had to rely on coin lockers at the bus terminal, which felt like a shock considering the luxury and prior helpfulness of the staff

The room for 2 is very large and has a king-sized bed in a bedroom, 2 queen-sized beds in a living room, a toilet and a shower/make-up area. A lavish dinner and breakfast were provided with our stay that involved many courses and was delicious. One of us were unable to eat beef or diary products and they were able to cater for this by exchanging those food items with fish and jelly instead. There is also a public bath for both genders with about 4-5 different indoor and outdoor baths, as well as 2 private baths which are first-come-first-serve and do not require reservation. Do try the welcome drink of their self-made amazake, it is 0% alcohol and delicious and we bought 2 bottles home after trying it.

The location, ambiance, rooms, onsen, and food were all excellent. I would recommend this stay for anyone who wants close access to Shirakawago. We had our own car, though it seems you could also utilize their shuttle service with some advanced planning.

The food was amazing; the pictures didn't oversell them at all. Every meal (breakfast and dinner if paid for) included a sumptuous mix of dishes served in courses. They were displayed beautifully and taste amazing even though some were new to me. There is an element of choice where you can choose from a few dishes for your rice and the like (for dinner). The compound had an amazingly immersive design. Upon entering the door with your luggage, guests are told to remove their shoes and keep them in traditional looking lockers, your shoe locker keys kept with you. The staff take cloths and clean our luggage rollers as you do so. You then step onto tatami, and realise that the whole compound is effectively all tatami floored, and spotlessly clean. It creates a homely and cozy feeling even when you're walking through the corridors to the main area, to the onsens or to your room. You can wear provided clean socks if you'd like too. There were also very considerate touch-ups such as free late night ramen at a cozy dining area outside the male and female onsens at 10~11pm, free mochi at the reception area at 6~7pm, and free scheduled shuttles to the bus terminal which is beside the Shirakawago cultural preservation tourist village area. Which was important considering the place was somewhat far from the inter town bus terminal (a 25min walk for my family without luggage, through the beautiful breezy landscape) and the only bus service that ran there was scarce. Luckily we managed to board that to go there. The onsen was the best out of those in my trip. It had a whole beach recliner sort of seat which could have you lay down in the onsen and have your body submerged up to your shoulders! It also had an 0.9m deep "sitting" onsen pool that also had pumps for extra effect. There were no flies when I was there, but there was a fly swatter in the outdoor onsen area with a cheeky Japanese notice to use it if needed.

Definitely recommend this if you are travelling to Shirakawago. It is a short distance away from the main sightseeing area but they provide shuttle bus pick up to and fro from the bus terminal so it was easy to get around. The amenities are absolutely amazing and as indicated. I'd encourage you to book for their dinner and breakfast, it is worth more than what you are paying for!! Even the kids meal is immaculately prepared. Also considering there wasn't much to eat around that area - you will get blown away by their quality and spread of food.

Luxury ryokan Large room with huge traditional breakfast. The location is further than expect but they do provide shuttle bus. The Onsen is so good the private one no charge and the public one are huge and there are many baths to choose. Amenities are all well prepared. Also provide free ice cream and drinks for relaxation. The noodles on late snack is superb!

Great location with shuttle bus services operating from and to the station if needed. All staff were incredibly friendly, helpful and professional at all times. As soon as you take off your shoes at the entrance, you are transported into a deeply relaxing environment that makes you want to stay forever. The rooms facing the riverside offer a great view of both mountains and river. Aside from that they are very clean and have everything one could need during their stay. The Onsen and Sauna facilities are in top condition and clean and one can feel the high water quality. Two reserved/private baths are available as well. Dinner and Breakfast were beyond exceptional offering a variety of traditional and local Japanese dishes. The ingredients are of the highest quality and the dishes were prepared with a lot of thought and care. Those looking for a special experience during their Japan trip will definitely find it at this place!
